Shaquira Speaks joined the Queen City News team in January 2021 as the South Carolina Bureau Chief, covering impactful stories from Chester, Chesterfield, Lancaster, and York Counties.
Prior to moving to Charlotte, Shaquira was a Reporter and Anchor for WRBL in Columbus, GA. Among her hundreds of stories, Shaquira helped cover Georgia’s historic 2020 Senate election and gubernatorial race.
Growing up in Warner Robins, GA, Shaquira watched local and national news every morning. From an early age, she knew she could transform her passion for asking questions into a career. She’s a huge sports fan and began following the hometown sports reporters on television as well as watching Stuart Scott and Robin Roberts on ESPN.
While attending the University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!), Shaquira interned at WGXA FOX 24/ABC 16 as a sports reporter.
While she loves telling the stories of the community, in her free time, Shaquira loves to watch the Bulldogs play football and listening to true-crime podcasts. Her other passion is shoes – she has over 150 pairs of sneakers in her home.
Feel free to stop and say hi if you see Shaquira around town. She’s always open to good restaurant recommendations, and is so excited to be in the Queen City!
