CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A teen passenger in a ride-share vehicle was shot while traveling southbound on I-85 in north Charlotte Thursday, CMPD said.

The injured passenger has been identified as 18-year-old Deandre Jackson, according to CMPD’s police report. Three others were inside the ride-share vehicle during the shooting: A 55-year-old man, a 16-year-old boy, and a 14-year-old girl, police said.

The shooting happened at 2:13 p.m. on I-85, between the exits for I-77 and Statesville Road.

Medic reported treating the 18-year-old on Statesville Road and transporting the teen to Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center. The police report states the vehicle, a 2011 Jeep, was struck by gunfire on I-85 and sustained approximately $3,000 in damages.

CMPD’s police report states two weapons were seized following the shooting: a black Polymer 80 9mm pistol, with a red grip, fully loaded, and a tan polymer 80 9mm pistol, with a black grip, orange laser sights, and brown weapon mounted light.

CMPD said the 18-year-old victim does not know the suspect in this case. No word if a suspect has been identified at this time or if any charges are pending.
