CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – A suspect has been charged for murder related to the shooting that occurred Monday off Mallard Creek Road.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police charged 24-year-old Jamal Matthew Dean, who was arrested Wednesday for an unrelated warrant.

The victim has been identified as 31-year-old Britton Owens, CMPD said. According to CMPD, the shooting happened just after 7:30 p.m. in the 2200 block of Prestigious Lane. Owens’ next of kin has been notified of the arrest.

As CMPD officers arrived Monday night, they found Owens with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

CMPD said Dean was charged with the following: murder, possession of firearm by a convicted felon, robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.
