CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – A man was arrested Thursday on murder chargers in connection to an Uptown shooting Tuesday.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said Demarques Arnez Carter, 27, was charged with first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a felon in the alleged killing of Kenneth McKinnon.
The incident happened around 3 p.m. on Sept. 12, in the 700 block of West 9th Street near North Graham Street.



Police say they were called to the scene for an injury call for service, and upon arrival, officers found a victim with a gunshot wound.
Medic pronounced McKinnon deceased on the scene. His next of kin has been notified of the arrest.
