CHARLOTTE, N.C. (FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) — The three men accused of shooting and killing a mother of two along a busy North Charlotte street appeared in court for the first time Monday afternoon.

22-year old Tychicus Dobie, 17-year-old Adonis Smith and 24-year-old Marquid Smith are charged with the murder of 27-year-old Kendal Crank. Crank was the mother of a three-year-old boy and eight-year-old girl.

More tears than words were shed by Tychicus Dobie as he made his appearance before a judge. Dobie, along with the two other men, will remain behind bars as bail has not been set for their murder charges.

In court Monday, all three requested a court appointed attorney.

“I pray that justice will be done whether it was your son that committed the crime or my son. This was an innocent young lady,” said the step-father of Kendal Crank.

CMPD received at least six 911 calls reporting shots fired last Thursday at the intersection of North Tryon and 28th Street.

Investigators say Kendal Crank was an innocent bystander, killed while she was driving to nursing school.

One other person was injured and showed up at a local hospital and investigators say a least one other car was damaged in the crossfire.

More than a dozen shell casings were found, but investigators still haven’t said why the three men were shooting in broad daylight at a busy intersection.

All three suspects remain behind bars and will appear in court again on April 10.
