CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) — There will be several events in the coming weeks to honor and remember the life of influential evangelist Reverend Billy Graham, who died in the morning hours of Wednesday, Feb. 21 at the age of 99.

According to the Billy Graham Memorial website, events open to the public will begin on Saturday, Feb. 24, with the first being the departure of the motorcade from the Billy Graham Training Center at The Cove in Asheville, North Carolina. This will happen at approximately 11:25 a.m.

At 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, there will be an ceremony in front of the Billy Graham Library in Charlotte as the motorcade arrives.

On Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 26-27, Graham will lie in repose inside the Graham Family Homeplace on the Billy Graham Library grounds. His casket will remain closed. Each day, the line will be open to the public from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.  There will be no on-site public parking during this time period.

Public parking can be found at the Operation Christmas Child Processing Center located at 7100 Forest Point Blvd., a few miles from the Billy Graham Library and at the Charlotte Business Valet, Lot 2 at 5613 Wilkinson Blvd. Public shuttle buses will run continually from these lots to and from the Graham Family Homeplace. The last shuttle will depart the parking lot 30 minutes before the public lie in repose closes.

Graham’s private funeral services will be held on Friday, March 2. 2,300 people were asked to attend the invite-only service, which is expected to last 90 minutes. Graham will be buried beside his wife, Ruth, at the foot of the cross-shaped brick walkway in the Prayer Garden, on the northeast side of the Billy Graham Library.
