Former Charlotte Mayor Patrick Cannon is no longer in prison, according to officials.
He was scheduled to be released from federal prison on Thursday, September 15.
“I can now confirm that Patrick Cannon is the responsibility of the Residential Re-entry Management (RRM) office in Raleigh, NC, and that he is no longer at FCI Morgantown,” Marilyn Veltri PIO said.

Cannon was set to be released from the Morgantown Federal Prison in West Virginia and brought back to Charlotte where he will be placed on house arrest.
He has been serving a 44 month prison sentence for accepting more than $50,000 in bribes, mostly from undercover FBI agents when he was mayor of Charlotte.
Cannon is scheduled for release after only serving a little more than half his prison term.
He will be under house arrest until January 25.
