The funeral arrangements for a Mooresville police officer shot and killed during a routine traffic stop were announced on Monday.

Services for Officer Jordan Sheldon will be held on Friday, May 10 at 11 a.m. at Calvary Church in Charlotte, located at 5801 Pineville-Matthews Road, according to the Mooresville Police Department.

A procession of public safety vehicles will leave the funeral home in Concord to the church in Charlotte for the service. Following the service, a procession will travel to Mooresville Police Department where the procession will disband.

A memorial for Sheldon has been growing outside of the police department for days. A candlelight vigil was also held for him on Sunday, attended by many members of the community.

Sheldon was shot Saturday night after he pulled the suspect over around 10 p.m. on West Plaza Drive.

The Mooresville police chief says he can’t comment why the suspect was being pulled over, but investigators say Michael Aldana opened fire on Sheldon, then left the scene and took his own life at a nearby apartment complex.

The police department says specific travel route and time for the procession to Mooresville will be posted after all transportation logistics are finalized.
