STATESVILLE, NC (WJZY) — A Statesville man is facing multiple charges after deputies said he raped a juvenile.
The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office said Devan Lane Black, 19, of Statesville, is charged with three counts of statutory rape of a child, and one count of statutory sex offense with a child.
The charges stem from an investigation that was launched in June 2016.
Detectives said throughout the investigation, they were were able to obtain more evidence on social media. Deputies discovered Black had sent obscene photos to the victim through Facebook.
Two charges of disseminating obscene material to a minor were filed against Black and an additional $25,000 was added to his bond, making the total $325,000.
According to the sheriff’s office, in addition to the pending charges from this investigation, Black also has pending charges in Iredell County Court for assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile, and preparing obscene photographs.
