CHARLOTTE, NC (FOX 46 WJZY) — A Garinger High School student is in custody after the teenager reportedly brought a gun onto campus Monday morning, school officials said.
Principal Kelly Gwaltney delivered a message to parents Monday morning, letting them know that a student brought a weapon to school:
“Your child’s safety and security at the school is important to me. This morning, we received a report of a student with a gun on campus. The student was taken into custody by law enforcement. The student will be disciplined according to the Code of Student Conduct and is subject to criminal charges.”
Police have confirmed that the juvenile arrested in this case has also been charged in connection to an east Charlotte shooting death.

He was also in possession of a stolen vehicle when he was arrested for having the weapon, and was subsequently charged with murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit murder, and conspiracy to commit armed robbery with a dangerous weapon.
No one was hurt during the incident.
