YORK COUNTY, SC (FOX 46 WJZY) — Four law enforcement officers were shot during a manhunt late Monday night after responding to a domestic violence call.
According to the York County Sheriff’s Office, Det. Michael Doty, Sgt. Randy Clinton, Sgt. Buddy Brown, and Sgt. Kyle Cummings with the York Police Department were “ambushed” by the suspect, 47-year-old Christian Thomas McCall.
York County Sheriff’s Office Det. Mike Doty is the most critical. The sheriff said earlier Doty is “hanging on to life.” He’s been with the York County Sheriff’s Office for 12 years.
Sgt. Randy Clinton is the K-9 handler with the sheriff’s office. He’s been with the department for more than 34 years. His injuries are not life-threatening.
Sgt. Buddy Brown has been with the York County Sheriff’s Office for 13 years. He’s already out of surgery and is recovering.
Sgt. Kyle Cummings has been with the York Police Department for three years. He had surgery earlier Tuesday for non life-threatening injuries.
The York County Sheriff’s Office has asked the public for prayers. SLED is handling this investigation moving forward and providing support to the sheriff’s office. A GoFundMe account has been started to support the officers’ medical bills and recovery.
