Man shot, killed in Hickory, suspect arrested, deputies …
A person is in custody after a man was found shot to death in Hickory Sunday night, according to the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office.
In a Thursday press conference, CMPD is asking the public’s help. They say a man used a stolen officer’s badge to say he was a cop. Steven Bridges, 29, did not work for the law enforcement agency and had no special equipment on his car. They don’t think Bridges performed any official acts or made any traffic stops.
Five years ago, CMPD officer Phillip Barker hit a man in the street while driving at fast speeds to another crash scene. The trial started after days of jury selection. Both the prosecution and the defense the case with witnesses taking the stand. Baker is expected to testify at some point during the trial.
